The Espachteich is located in Erfurt's Brühlervorstadt district southwest of the city center and, together with the Gera-Flutgraben, forms a kind of green gateway to the Luisen- and Dreienbrunnenpark. Coming from Straße des Friedens, you walk along the Espachteich pond to the park and café of the same name. Two playgrounds, one of which has shallow access to an arm of the pond, are available to resident and visiting children.
