European Bread Museum e.V.

In the European Bread Museum you can learn about 6,000 years of the cultural history of bread, the development of agriculture, milling and the bakery trade. Exhibits have been brought together from the time of the first farmers, the Linear Pottery around 5,500 BC, through the Bronze and Iron Ages, the Middle Ages and finally the modern era.

In addition to the permanent exhibition "From Grain to Bread", the baroque museum building also houses an annually changing special exhibition and the historic bakery, where baking activities take place with visitors.

In the historic outdoor area, visitors can marvel at the functioning windmill and watermill, grain and herb garden and faithfully recreated bread ovens from the Stone Age, Roman times and modern times. A park with old trees, a medieval defense and residential tower and a café/bakery on the grounds complete the offer.

Together with the Wilhelm Busch Mühle e.V., the European Bread Museum is one of the most important tourist attractions in southern Lower Saxony. From March to November, the European Bread Museum attracts over 15,000 enthusiastic visitors of all ages and educational backgrounds.
