Falcons
Falcons
The half-timbered village of Falken lies between the banks of the Werra and the "Kahn" ridge. The well-kept half-timbered houses are lined up around the old village green with its lime trees. The richly painted Martini Church and the Güldene Stift (Golden Abbey) dominate the village skyline.
The village can look back on more than 900 years of history, the first documented mention was in 1104. In addition to the Martini church, the 13th century gatehouse leading to it, the local history room in the church tower, the historical exhibitions in the old school and the hydroelectric power station from 1913 are also worth seeing. Numerous buildings have been painstakingly restored to a condition worth seeing.
