Ballroom in the Köstritzer Palais
Ballroom in the Köstritzer Palais
Classical concerts are held monthly in the ballroom of the baroque Köstritzer Palais. The building was extensively renovated in 1999 to become the seat of the town council. The concert hall has 100 seats in the hall and a further 25 in the gallery, and the ceiling is decorated with dahlia motifs based on hand-colored Köstritz catalogs from the mid-19th century. The palace was originally the representative residence of Prussian family members, owned from 1824 by Christian Deegen (founder of German dahlia cultivation), then by the Rudolf Zersch family, tenants of the Prussian estates and the brewery.
