The Ulster, a stream approx. 4 to 6 m wide throughout and up to 1.5 m deep, offers sport anglers a good opportunity to fish for brown trout, rainbow trout and grayling in the approx. 4 km long section between Rothmühle and the Hilders/Lahrbach district boundary, which is leased by the Hilders fishing club, from April 1 to October 15. Fishing is only permitted with an artificial fly. The number of permits (daily and weekly permits) is limited. Fishing permits are available from the Hilders Tourist Information Office, tel. 06681/960815, by prior arrangement. The daily permit costs € 35.00, the weekly permit € 70.00 (each including a € 20 deposit, which will be refunded by the fishing club when the catch statistics are returned).
