Flohburg - The Nordhausen Museum
Flohburg - The Nordhausen Museum
Over three floors, the eventful history of the city from its beginnings to the present day is vividly presented, supported by many media and audio stations.
The FLOHBURG is one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Nordhausen. The „Haus der Barte“, as the FLOHBURG used to be called, has been mentioned since the 12th century. It is a residential building, brewery, theater, poorhouse and children's library. With its opening as the Nordhausen Museum on June 30, 2012, Nordhausen's valuable collections have been given a worthy home. History and stories from the city's exciting 1,090-year history are vividly presented in 19 main themes.
With 1,000 m² of exhibition space, the house combines urban history, geology, archaeology and natural history under one roof. It is a place of encounter, stimulating learning and reflection. Special offers: History to take away in the store, media offerings on three levels, educational programs on the history of the city, history for children at adventure stations.
