Thuringian forest cuisine par excellence!

Just three kilometers from the world-class winter sports resort of Oberhof, tucked away in the heights of the Thuringian Forest, lies Forsthaus Sattelbach - which has always been an outstanding address for Thuringian cuisine. Whether roast venison from the leg with apple red cabbage, game goulash with champions, venison meatloaf, home-made venison aspic or other fine dishes of beef and pork - here guests can find everything they associate with tasty Thuringian cuisine based around the dumpling. The latter, like all the inn's delicacies, is „handmade“: dumplings are twisted by hand, roulades are filled by hand, sauces are made by hand and the inn's own spice mixtures leave no room for convenience products. The food is served in the traditional way, without neglecting the necessary portion of „freestyle“ in the kitchen, which also gives room for subtle nuances and new interpretations.

In addition to its outstanding cuisine, the house impresses with its sublime location. If you look carefully and have a bit of luck, you might be able to see one or two red deer majestically leaving their cover from the window.
