Frankenroda
Frankenroda
The beautiful location makes Frankenroda the ideal vacation destination for nature lovers. In this pretty village you can still find many witnesses from past centuries such as the old court house, an old well, many lovingly renovated half-timbered houses, a rural church and old boundary stones. If we follow in their footsteps, we can trace the development of the village. Frankenroda is one of the oldest and most beautiful villages in the region. Franks are said to have settled the area on the Werra after the defeat of the Thuringian kingdom, but the village of Frankenroda is not mentioned in a document until 1104, which is far from the true age of the village. Numerous hiking and cycling trails with excellent viewpoints through the beautiful Werra valley from Hann. Münden to the Thuringian Forest are destinations for many recreation seekers. Furthermore, 2 km from the village, also on the Werra, is the former monastery Probstei Zella with jetty, fishing pond, camping, riding arena and much more.
