Francis of Assisi Chapel

The Franz von Assisi Chapel is located on the grounds of the Herbigshagen Estate, the headquarters of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation. It was consecrated on 07.11.1999.

The chapel was named after St. Francis of Assisi, as there is a connection between his teachings and the foundation's idea of nature conservation: The preservation of nature and creation in all its diversity is the moral obligation of every human being and leads to moral action.

The Franz von Assisi Chapel is also the final resting place of the foundation's founders Heinz (1917-2006) and Inge Sielmann (1930-2019).
