Franciscan Monastery Hülfensberg/Eichsfeld
The place of pilgrimage on the 448 m high Hülfensberg has existed since the 14th century. The pilgrimage church was built in 1360-1367. In it, a Romanesque cross dating from the 12th century is venerated by the faithful. Since 1860 the Franciscans have been in charge of the pilgrimage on the mountain. The monastery building also dates from this time. Adjacent to it is the Boniface Chapel, built in 1902, which commemorates the unlikely, but by tradition presupposed, work of St. Boniface on the mountain.
