They are authentic places of work and residence and unique cultural and sports history sites. In addition to the home of the "father of gymnastics" Johann Friedrich Ludwig Christoph Jahn, built in 1838, they consist of the memorial gymnasium from 1894 and the Jahn Hall of Honor from 1903. The museum was opened in the Hall of Honor in 1903 and has been located in the listed home, which Jahn had built according to his own designs in 1838, since 1936. The museum's garden also contains the so-called "Court of Honor" with his grave.
