Friemar - idyllically situated in a shallow depression between the Lindwurmberg (Tüttleben) and the Fahnersche Höhen in the north. The village was first mentioned in a document in 874.

With a population of 1,022, Friemar is the second largest town in the "Nesseaue" administrative district and the seat of the administrative community. While the typical agricultural character used to predominate, craft and service businesses have now settled here. There is also the "Ritterknirpse" kindergarten, the "Immertal Primary School", which was extended for 2 million euros in 2010, a youth club and the local history museum. There is also a doctor's surgery and a physiotherapy practice in the village.

The St. Vitus Church, built after the great fire of 1780, with its knobbed organ and the war memorial on the church tower with memorial plaques for the fallen of Friemar in both world wars, the local history museum in Pfarrstraße, the Waidmühle replica in Schulstraße, the playgrounds in Goethestraße and Pfarrstraße and the reservoir with its reed belt and the Gleich reservoir restaurant, which opened in 1966.

But club life also plays a major role in Friemar. There is the local heritage association, fishing club, Friemarer Carnevalsverein e.V. sports club SV-Union, tennis club, shooting club, table tennis club, fairground association and, not to forget, the Friemar volunteer fire department.
