Frog fountain Weimar
Frog fountain Weimar
In the extended Steubenstraße, directly at the corner of Gropiusstraße, an oversized self-confident frog is enthroned on a fountain made of regional sand-lime stone. To the side of the elevation are two stylized ravens in miniature. On the right side is an animal watering basin. Arno Zauche, who was one of Adolf von Donndorf's most talented students, created the fountain around 1910 on a municipal commission. The original location of the fountain was near the Jakobsplan, in 1938 the tubular fountain was moved to its present location near the Jenaplanschule Weimar.
