At 65 m above the valley floor, a unique view of the Upper Castle and the old town of Greiz awaits you.

The Gasparine Temple was built around 1822 on the then Alexandrinenberg to mark the marriage of Prince Henry XIX Reuss of the Elder Line (1790-1836) to Princess Gasparine of Rohan-Rochefort and Montauban (1799-1871). 

Restorations, redesigns and renovations ensured the preservation of the temple in the following years. In preparation for the „Greizer Heimatfest“ in 1934, a general repair became unavoidable. The wooden pillars of the temple were replaced by eight Tuscan granite pillars. The classicist building, with a height of 8 m and a diameter of approx. 6 m, has an open design. The Gasparinentempel is located on the route of the Greizer Rundwanderweg (stage 3: Silberloch-Dölau) and is a special vantage point.
