Memorial to the expellees Körner
Memorial to the expellees Körner
The exhibition deals with the fate of refugees and displaced persons who had to leave their homeland in 1945 and settle in what is now the Unstrut-Hainich district. Expulsion should become a new beginning. After the Second World War, more than 1000 refugees were accommodated in Körner, almost as many as there were inhabitants at the time. The memorial site researches and tells posterity about the traumatizing fate of the displaced persons. The museum, which is well worth a visit, documents the lives of the refugees with original documents and photos and shows harrowing photographic documentation.
