The listed half-timbered house in Scherfgasse was probably built in 1547 as a residence and storehouse. At the time, Salomo Franck, a friend of Johann Sebastian Bach, lived in the stately building, which consists of three sections. The town acquired the historic house after a town hall fire in the middle of the 19th century. Part of the administration and a council cellar were temporarily housed here. Today, the Weimar Geleitschenke is home to the Köstritzer Schwarzbierhaus - an inn with a guesthouse.
