Lutter, which currently has 641 inhabitants (as at 31/12/2019), is located around 5 km from Uder. The road, which branches off to the left from the main road right at the entrance to Uder, runs through the fairly wide meadow valley of the Lutter between the Heiligenstadt municipal forest on the left and the Kleiner and Großer Lichtenbühl on the right as far as the village of Lutter.
