The Schleusegrund - a journey of discovery south of the Rennsteig

Situated on the south-western slope of the Rennsteig in the enchanting side valleys at an altitude of 450 to 800 meters above sea level, the Schleusegrund one of the most attractive recreational areas in the UNSESCO Thuringian Forest Biosphere Reserve. This unique cultural landscape, a large contiguous forest area with numerous mountain meadows and the Schönbrunn drinking water reservoir, is criss-crossed by a very well signposted network of paths.

Hikers, cyclists, mountain bikers as well as Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy nature here. Schleusegrund is located in the district of Hildburghausen, in which Customs and traditional crafts are cared for with a lot of heart and soul. The municipality of Schleusegrund is a state-approved health resort.
