The municipality of Schönhagen in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld is located in the valley between the two municipalities of Birkenfelde and Röhrig. Special sights include St. Michael's Church and a field chapel on a hill on the road to Röhrig.

As a project Kuhmuhne Schönhagen e.V. a show garden was created on the club grounds. The main aim of this project is to grow as many original herbs, vegetables and spices as possible. Over 600 mostly "forgotten" useful and ornamental plant species are now on display. The site is also used as a "Flail show garden" because most of the seeds come from the organic seed propagation of Dreschflegel-Saatgut-GBR.
