The Thuringian municipality of Geroda is located in the north-east of the Saale-Orla district. It is a member of the administrative community of Triptis.

There is a small river and several ponds in Geroda. The Krähenholz in particular consists of three or more ponds close together with unique flora and fauna. It starts right next to a major country road. Also worth seeing is the former sand pit, which is now a nature reserve with endangered animal and plant species. It is hidden away and stretches almost as far as Geheege.
