Göhren

The favorable traffic situation on the Alte Geraer Landstraße was a major reason for choosing Göhren as the main town. Romschütz, Lossen, Lutschütz and Gödern are incorporated. Göhren itself lies on the steeper right-hand slope of the German stream (Kleiner Jordan). When it was called Goren around 1200, it was to indicate its topographical location (Old Sorbian = place on a hill).

Ecclesiastical institutions gradually acquired property in the village, which belonged to the burgrave of Leisnig. In 1445 there were 6 farms in the village. With its 8 half-timbered houses, Göhren can be counted among the half-timbered settlements. The once well-known inn "Zum Deutschen Jordan" on Geraer Straße, now Eisenberger Straße, is located in the valley, directly on the "Kleiner Jordan". At the end of the 19th century, Böhner's inn was popular with the dancing world, particularly because of its large hall.
