Grammetal

Grammetal is a rural municipality in the Thuringian district of Weimarer Land,

The municipality is located between the state capital Erfurt in the west and Weimar in the east on the southern edge of the Thuringian Basin. The municipal area mainly rises from north to south, although the outskirts of the Ettersberg also belong to the municipality in the north-east. The lowest points are north and west of Niederzimmern at 193 meters and rise to 445 meters on the Ettersberg and to 469 meters southeast of Eichelborn. The Gramme, a tributary of the Unstrut, which gives the village its name, has its source near Nohra.

The municipality of Grammetal consists of the 16 villages of Bechstedtstraß, Daasdorf a. Berge, Eichelborn, Hayn, Hopfgarten, Isseroda, Mönchenholzhausen, Niederzimmern, Nohra, Obergrunstedt, Obernissa, Ottstedt a. Berge, Sohnstedt, Troistedt, Ulla and Utzberg.

In addition to the independent cities of Erfurt to the west and Weimar to the east, Grammetal borders three municipalities in the Weimarer Land district: Am Ettersberg to the north, the town of Bad Berka to the south-east and Klettbach to the south-west.
