Greiner-Mai GmbH "The Christmas tree"
Greiner-Mai GmbH "The Christmas tree"
Back to the roots.
The Roots of the glass tradition of the Greiner-Mai family go back until the 15th century. Our ancestors were among the first to make the Christmas tree bauble in Lauscha. Even today, the Christmas tree bauble is still made in the same way as 170 years ago. Lovingly made by hand, step by step manufactured. With this long tradition, it is not surprising that Historical shapes and decors from the period around 1870-1920 make up the range.
The check pattern is a particularly elaborate design - the painting alone takes a whole week due to the various steps involved. The main interest of regular customers is therefore in collecting these treasures rather than following current trends.
There is a festive and Christmassy atmosphere in the store all year round. If you have specific ideas, you should choose your desired Christmas tree decorations in the summer before the most popular designs are sold out in the fall.
Always on 1st advent visitors can visit the open workshop and take a look behind the scenes over mulled wine and cookies to look over the shoulders of the glassblowers and painters. Meanwhile, historical pictures of the family can be admired in the small museum corner and children can even send their post to Santa Claus in Himmelpfort.
