Haselbach Lake
Haselbach Lake
Lake Haselbach, which belongs partly to Saxony and partly to Thuringia, southwest of Regis-Breitingen and Haselbach, is part of Leipzig's New Zealand. It was created from a former open-cast lignite mine. The open-cast mine was flooded in 1993. Today, the lake is used as a recreational area that is to be further developed for tourism. For example, various cycling and hiking trails around the lake are being planned. The lake is easily accessible by car. It is not yet integrated into the public transport network.
