Erfurt's main station, with its historic, listed station building and the new, light-flooded station concourse, is attractively staged as a modern shopping gallery by the Willy-Brandt-Platz in front of it. Numerous stores and restaurants are open not only on weekdays, but also on Sundays until 8.00 pm.

As Erfurt has been one of the most important ICE hubs in Germany since 2017, the Thuringian state capital is easily accessible by train both nationally and internationally.
