Haynsburg
Haynsburg
The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1185 with the noble lord "Conradus de Hagensberg", verifiable until 1223, and was mentioned in a document of Margrave Heinrich in 1238 as a fortified place.
It served to protect the imperial hunting palace in Kayna and to secure roads and trade. Owners changed frequently. Already in the 15th century the castle served agricultural purposes.
Due to construction measures the castle, where today hotel and equestrian farm are located, is in a good condition. The visitor has a beautiful view over the Elster valley. In the immediate vicinity is the Elsterradweg and numerous hiking opportunities.
