Heimatstube and cinema Rositz

The Rositzer Heimatstube was housed in an old half-timbered house, the upper floor of which used to be the home of the coachman of the medical council Dr. Alfred Friedrich. The carriage was housed in the basement and the stable for the horses was located to the right. The carriage was later replaced by a motor vehicle when Dr. Friedrich became the first owner of a car in Rositz.
Later, until reunification, the municipality of Rositz used it as a garage and storage room.

After reunification, the house stood empty for a long time.
The municipality of Rositz had the vacant building completely renovated in 1997 in order to set up the Heimatstube in this building.

In 1998, the employees of the municipality of Rositz were busy clearing out the renovated Heimatstube and setting up an exhibition. This exhibition on the upper floor of the Heimatstube covers the broad topic of Rositz's local history. The historical exhibits include many items on loan and donations from Rositz residents and local history enthusiasts.

A small attraction is the "Heimatstubenkino" with historical projection technology. It is particularly noteworthy that Rositz used to have one of the oldest movie theaters in Germany, which closed for good on January 2, 1981. Although there were plans to renovate and continue using the cinema, these were never implemented due to a lack of funds. Unfortunately, the decay of this historic cinema building was so advanced that it could no longer be preserved. Part of the equipment of this old Rositz cinema can be found in our Heimatstube, so that film screenings with the old projection technology can take place here from time to time. The dates and topics will be published in good time.

The Rositz local history association has its new home in the former garage in the basement of the building.
A visit to our Heimatstube is worthwhile!
