The Heimatstube in Heyerode is located in the Schulzenhaus on the Anger and houses an exhibition that gives an insight into the life and work of the ancestors of past decades. The Schulzenhaus is one of the well-preserved half-timbered houses in the village. The association collects and preserves historical evidence as well as the dialect Heyeröder Platt.
The Heyerode people were nicknamed Heyeröder Huppenmannerchen - from Huppe, which means teat. Cigars were made in Heyerode, so you met many men here with cigar butts in their mouths.
The Heimatstube can be visited by appointment with the municipal administration. Guided tours are also possible by appointment.
