Heinrich Ehrhardt Villa
Heinrich Ehrhardt Villa
Residence and villa of the family of Privy Building Councillor Heinrich Ehrhardt
Heinrich Ehrhardt, born in Zella and at the time an immensely successful industrial magnate in the Ruhr area and Thuringia (see personalities of the town), bought the land and buildings of the Obermühle, built in 1539, in 1878 and converted the main building into his home in its current form. He died here on 20.11.1928. The building remained the property of Ehrhardt's descendants.
In 1906, Heinrich Ehrhardt had a prestigious villa built in Oberzella. His son Gustav lived there with his family, who at the time managed the Zella-based Heinrich-Ehrhardt-AG. Automobile Department. After the First World War and the bankruptcy of the Ehrhardt works in 1925, the family sold the villa.
