Helbedündorf
The municipality of Helbedündorf with its six villages is scenically located in the Helbetal in the extensive beech forests of the Hainleite - the landscape and quiet location invite you to relax, enjoy nature, hiking and cycling. In the villages of the municipality Holzthaleben, Keula, Friedrichsrode Großbrüchter, Toba and Kleinbrüchter live about 2400 inhabitants. The small villages were mainly built in the Middle Ages - many half-timbered houses still characterize the villages. The oldest village Keula is documented since 967, the youngest village Friedrichsrode was founded only 300 years ago. Friedrichsrode has become known as a "cultural nest": not only do numerous artists live here, but visitors can also try their hand at art in the Kunsthof with its workshops, creative facilities and overnight accommodations, as well as experience concerts, readings and other cultural events. The annual highlight is the art market in June, which has been attracting hundreds of guests for 30 years with numerous artists, musicians, (art) craftsmen & other exhibitors.
