Henningsleben was first mentioned in 1186 and several names are known. In 1211 the place was called Henningsleuben. From 1378 to 1506 it was called Henningsloiben. After that the place is known as Henningsleben.

As of 12/31/2019, there were 222 residents living in Henningsleben. Many of them are involved in the local clubs. The volunteer fire department, the soccer club ,,FSV 90 Henningsleben" as well as the funfair society shape the cultural life in the village and support the community on various occasions.
