Heyersdorf is a municipality in the Thuringian district of Altenburger Land. In terms of population, it is the smallest municipality in the district. Together with Ponitz, Heyersdorf is the commissioning municipality for Gößnitz, which means that some administrative tasks are carried out in Gößnitz town hall. The municipality is located in the middle of gently rolling hills, right between western Saxony and eastern Thuringia, directly on the A4. Heyersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1296. The idyllic little church of Heyersdorf can be seen right next to the municipal office.
