Hiltmann's House Saalfeld
Hiltmann's House Saalfeld
The Hiltmannsche Haus at Blankenburger Straße 18 was first mentioned in 1485 and was converted into a patrician house in 1549, essentially giving it its current appearance. The house was commissioned by the colonial goods merchant Otto Hiltmann. The house is still owned by his family today.
The main features of the building are the typical Renaissance portal with seating niches and the façade bay with stylized tracery parapet. The second floor in the same style was only added at the beginning of the 20th century according to plans by the Saalfeld architect Ludwig Böduel.
