The "Himmelsleiter", a "Wetterscheidenchaussee", is so called because of the former A-pylons along the way.

The last section of the Rennstieg leads through the city forest of the time-honored "Free Imperial City" of Mühlhausen. The "Himmelsleiter", a "Wetterscheidenchaussee", crosses the Rennstieg and leads in a westerly direction past the "Luther Oak".
