Bad Liebenstein historic spa gardens
Bad Liebenstein historic spa gardens
The historic Bad Liebenstein spa gardens were laid out in 1799 and, together with the castle hill, cover an area of 30 hectares. It begins in the town center on Herzog-Georg-Straße and climbs up to the castle hill. The historic spa gardens include the Wandelhalle, the Hotel Kaiserhof, the Kurhaus, the Kneipp facility with barefoot path, the Friedenskirche and Villa Feodora as well as the Esplanade with the historic post office, the Pension Olga and the Hotel Kapelle. The extended spa park with the castle ruins at its center comprises a narrow system of paths, along which park architecture such as the Ida monument and the rock theater, as well as vantage points such as the Weite Blick are located. The originally open castle hill is now wooded; the transition from park-like structures to the Thuringian Forest is fluid, similar to the Altenstein Landscape Park.
