Historical Glass Apparatus Museum

In 1857, the gas discharge tube was introduced to science by Heinrich Geißler. In 1876, Robert Götze, born in Cursdorf and a pupil of Heinrich Geißler, set up his own business in Leipzig and, together with the Pressler brothers, made a name for himself worldwide in the fields of thermometry, X-ray technology, gas discharge physics and photoelectronics. In one of the oldest buildings in Cursdorf, several examples of the tubes once produced are exhibited and their function demonstrated - a journey back in physics to the 19th century. The museum also provides detailed information about the former companies Rudolf and Otto Pressler.
