Höngeda
Höngeda
Höngeda is a district of the town of Mühlhausen and is located to the south-east on a main road towards Bad Langensalza. The district is located in the Thuringian Basin. Höngeda was first mentioned in 876.
The church of St. Cyriacus is well worth a visit. St. Cyriacus is the patron saint of winegrowers. The former citizens of the settlement of Höngeda with their St. Cyriac's Church occupied an important strategic location as neighbors of the imperial city of Mühlhausen and as residents of the very wide Unstrut floodplain. The church was therefore a fortified church and outpost for the Mühlhausen moat.
An active club life, from the carnival to the fire department, characterizes local life. Höngeda is connected to the regional cycle path network. There is a feeder cycle path to the Unstrut cycle path between Höngeda and Seebach.
