Hohenstein OT Liebenrode
Hohenstein OT Liebenrode
The village of Liebenrode is part of the municipality of Hohenstein and has developed since the 12th century. St. Peter's Church, built at the highest point, towers over the village. There were once manors here belonging to the Counts of Klettenberg and Hohenstein. The quiet, agricultural village offers holidaymakers relaxation and entices them into the surrounding nature. The sinkhole lakes, for example, which were formed by the gypsum karst landscape of the southern Harz, are well worth seeing. The supra-regional karst hiking trail, which has been awarded a quality trail, also runs close to the village, where hikers can experience other karst phenomena.
