Elderberry wine Wiegleb
Elderberry wine Wiegleb
In the Goldene Aue, in the small village of Auleben, the Wiegleb family prepares a special regional specialty: elderberry wine. The elderberries, whose positive effects have been known for centuries as the "farmer's pharmacy", are harvested by hand. The well-ripened, unsprayed black berries are picked on specially cultivated farmland and in the wild. Of course, various factors play a major role in the ripening of the black fruit. The elderberry bush loves plenty of sunshine and sufficient moisture, and the berries have their own character depending on the season.
Elderberry wine is produced from the low-acid, vitamin- and mineral-rich berries in numerous elaborate steps - in the flavors sweet, semi-dry and dry as well as an aromatic elderberry mulled wine with Christmas spices. After maturing in wine tanks, the easy-to-digest, stomach-friendly elderberry wine is bottled.
The winemaker needs a good sense of taste and the skills of a cellar master to achieve consistent quality. On request, the elderberry wine is available directly in Auleben by telephone arrangement, but can also be sent by post on request. A tour of the farm with an entertaining wine tasting and snack is also possible by appointment.
