IFA Museum Nordhausen
Visitors can expect to see more than 130 faithfully restored exhibits, all of which were manufactured at the site in today's Freiherr-vom Stein-Straße during its 90-year history. Characterized by changing owners and products, it has always been vehicle construction in a wide variety of forms.
The exhibition shows mine and light railway locomotives from the first half of the 20th century, tractors from the GDR's reconstruction period, complete cutaway models of the legendary Famulus tractor and the diesel engines of the 14.5 and 13.5 series. From the rotating engine crankshaft to the differential gear, the function of drive technology is clearly explained.
Each exhibit is accompanied by technical documentation. Changing special exhibitions show the history of technology. In addition to the technical facts, visitors can also learn about the respective historical context and learn something new.
