Ifta
Ifta
Treffurt's southernmost district is an agricultural half-timbered village with around 1100 inhabitants. The people of Ifta are known for their lively traditions and extensive funfair celebrations.
The village of Yfide was first mentioned in 1260 and was influenced in the Middle Ages by its location on the busy "Lange Hessen" highway. During the GDR era, the people here had to suffer many reprisals and even forced resettlement in the 5 km exclusion zone. The people of Ifta have close ties to their homeland and love soccer and traditional festivals. The village green and the Trinitatis church, surrounded by half-timbered houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, form the center of the village.
