Illeben is located approx. 4.8 km south-east of the town center in the Herzbach valley. The townscape of the village with its 243 inhabitants (as of 31.12.2019) is characterized by agricultural buildings, the elevated upper village, the lower village in the floodplain, irregularly winding alleys and a belt of gardens and orchards.
