The dining room (and kitchen) of a monastery is known as the „refectory“, as is the case in the venerable Veßra monastery in the village of the same name. Anyone who thinks that now that the last Premonstratensians have left, there is nothing more going on here in the culinary field is mistaken. When hunger strikes, whether big or small, chef Uwe stands his ground in the „Refektorium“ snack bar and serves Thuringian roast beef, Mutzbraten, homemade brawn, farmer's breakfast, braised ribs and much more from the open grill or the oven. The trained butcher, who has done his homework internationally, attaches great importance to the freshness of the products and the authenticity of the preparation. Crisp salads and hearty soups are of course a must.

A real recommendation for visitors to the monastery, as well as for those passing through on the B89 or cyclists on the Werratal cycle path.
