The municipality of Ingersleben is located in the immediate vicinity of the state capital Erfurt, on the banks of the Apfelstädt. Until the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Counts of Gleichen, who maintained a fortified defense system here. For centuries, the main source of income was the cultivation of woad, the medieval dyeing plant. Worth seeing is the Freisassenhaus, built around 1680, which is one of the most important farmhouses in the area with its richly decorated half-timbering. The Marienthal Bridge, built in 1752, was commissioned by the Imperial Count Gustav Adolph v. Gotter. The baroque bridge was extensively renovated at the beginning of the 1990s. The infrastructure of the village is primarily characterized by agriculture.
