The Jacob's Gate has disappeared over time and can no longer be visited today.

The fortifications around the old town had three gates: the Jakobstor, the Kegeltor and the Südtor.

Over the centuries, all the city gates underwent structural changes due to decay, until their demolition began in 1757 as part of the town's defortification.
