Chamber Forest
The first documentary reference in 860 mentions the village of "Cemoforte" as the property of the Fulda monastery. In 1360, the noble family "Seebach" acquired the Kammerforster estate, which is divided into upper and lower estates.the national park community lies on the eastern edge of the Hainich and on the northern border of the national park. The village center with its half-timbered houses, village green, church and the national park information center and exhibition in the historic upper estate offer a convenient starting point for many activities. From Kammerforst, you will find hiking routes into the Hainich. The village is often used as an overnight stopover for racing hikes. In the friendly village with around 1000 inhabitants, traditional Whitsun, land consecration and May festivals are celebrated. In addition to brass band and forest festivals, the village has become famous for its annual folk music festival, where stars of the pop and folk music scene such as Andy Borg, Heino, the Hoffmann siblings, Stefanie Hertel and Sefan Mros often come together.
