There was already a church in Leinefelde in the 13th century, which fell into disrepair over time. For this reason, today's Old Church was dismantled down to the tower and rebuilt between 1729 and 1733. The tower was given its baroque crown during construction. It was consecrated in 1733 and the interior was furnished thanks to donations. The baptismal font from 1500 comes from the original church. The valuable stained glass windows, the double Madonna from the 18th century and the high altar from 1737, still in its original color scheme, are particularly noteworthy.
