Catholic Church of St. Mary Magdalene Leinefelde
Catholic Church of St. Mary Magdalene Leinefelde
Due to the increasing number of inhabitants in Leinefelde, the Old Church became too small despite extensive renovations. After efforts by the parish priest at the time, the three-aisled, neo-Gothic New Church was built in 1886 and also consecrated as the patron saint of St. Mary Magdalene. The church was furnished at the beginning of the 20th century. Special features were the installation of the high altar and the construction of an open-air Stations of the Cross. The baptismal font was taken over from the old church. The church has a 56-metre-high tower with a pointed roof.
