St. Nicholas Catholic Church Worbis
St. Nicholas Catholic Church Worbis
Construction of the church began in 1756 and took over 150 years to complete due to many setbacks. Previously, a dilapidated St. Nicholas Chapel from 1311 existed on this site.
The church was reconsecrated in 1878 and the tower was built in 1899. Romanesque to neo-Gothic style elements can be found throughout the various construction phases. The interior is designed in the style of the 19th century. The carved altar from 1475 from the Cistercian monastery in Worbis, the baptismal font from 1723 and the stained glass windows are particularly noteworthy.
