Church of St. Laurentius Schönau a. d. Brend
Church of St. Laurentius Schönau a. d. Brend
The Catholic church, dedicated to St. Laurentius, is majestically enthroned on the Kirchberg and greets the Brendtal valley from afar. Its striking location makes it a landmark of the village. It was built between 1604 and 1608 and consecrated on October 14, 1613.
The church is surrounded by the cemetery, which is divided into an old and a new part. There is also a mortuary. In the new cemetery there are urn graves, a large cross and a memorial to those who died in the village in both world wars. At the foot of the Kirchberg is a memorial to Otto Feick, the co-inventor of the Rhön wheel.
A service booklet with the respective Mass intentions is available in the church. The Mass intentions are also posted in the parish hall.
